Wild Turkey 12yr Gold Label Opened Bottle Austin Nichols

In the early 1980s, Austin Nicols introduced Wild Turkey Beyond Duplication, a 12-year-old, 101-proof bourbon to domestic markets. In 1985, the full-color label, which previously featured a turkey in flight, changed to a monochromatic version made from reflective gold foil. In time, it became known as “Cheesy Gold Foil,” or “CGF” for short, thanks to its loud design. Use of the CGF label ran from 1985-1992 domestically and 1990-1993 as an export, though these ranges are debatable as collector’s often use glass manufacturer stamps to determine fill dates. The most sought after CGF dates are 1985 and 1988, as they are rumored to contain unique stocks of bourbon.
